Tom Stewart is a fine art photographer in Victoria, BC, creating images in the urban and coastal areas of Vancouver Island and in the studio.

Drawing inspiration from the earliest photographers, he focuses on transforming reflected and refracted light into images that evoke thought, wonder, appreciation and questions. He strives to present common objects or scenes in an uncommon way in order to highlight their essence and reveal the beauty. His work often displays a minimalistic aesthetic and is frequently presented in black and white, focusing on form, light and shadow, free of the distraction of colour.

He frequently photographs items in unusual settings to accentuate their qualities. Many of his images are impressionistic and border on the abstract but the subject is usually discernible. Wherever he finds it, he honours shape, beauty and outstanding design.
